As
a child I was always drawing, possibly the result of being educated
within the confines of the rigid and non-communicative structure
of a strick convent, I communicated, but not in words!
At
16 I went to Salisbury College of Art to do 3 year graphic course,
resuluting in the SRD (Southern Regional Diploma). At age 19 I
went to London and worked in an advertising agency for one year
and from there went to Toronto,Canada where I worked as a freelance
designer/illustrator,
After returning to London and working as a designer illustrator
for two years I went Sydney, Australia for a year where I worked
for Hamlyns as a book designer and then I produced a series of
posters which I sold throughout Australia as we travelled around
the country. This provided sufficient funds on our return to UK
to buy a house in London and continue working in design agencies.
In
1984 then moved out of London to live on the Wey canal where I
bought a house boat but continued to work as a freelance designer
and illustator. In 1987 I sold the boat and travelled around Asia
for three months, starting up an import business from Bali (Indonesia)
of artefacts which I worked at in conjunction with design work
until 1990 when I rented out the London flat I had spent eight
months renovating and went to live in Hong Kong for one year where
I worked as senior designer in an advertising agency.
After
the year I returned to the U.K. and decided to bring my cartoonist
skills to the fore.
This was very successful and the first time I felt 'in my own
skin' with regard to my profession. After several years developing
this area I decided to investigate caricaturing and went to Monmartre
in Paris to see the work of the French caricaturists.
I
returned to the U.K - basing myself in East Grinstead, Sussex
- and contacted a local hotel who booked me for three events on
a trail basis which went so well I was officially booked for the
Toyota Christmas party that year.
I now work professionally
as a Caricaturist for numerous corporate events/weddings/private
parties and have caricatured celebrities such as Damon Hill/Lorrraine
Chase/ Tommy Doherty/Gordan Ramsey and corporates such as Marconi(Milan),
BMW/ Mercedes-Benz/ John Lewis/ Credit Suisse/ Volkeswagon/yell./M&S.
